You may wear SPF sunscreen when you are on holiday, but did you know that dermatologists advise the wearing of SPF every-day, even when it’s not sunny? Read on to discover the benefits you could gain from wearing SPF every-day, and why Hair Bare Pro’s Protect You SPF30 is a great option for those seeking an SPF. SPF prevents skin cancer First of all, SPF sunscreen protects the skin by blocking harmful UVA and UVB rays. UVA is a longer wavelength linked to skin aging, whereas UVB is a shorter wavelength linked to skin burning. You should take steps to avoid getting sunburnt because it increases the risk of skin cancer (melanoma). This is why many of us prioritise wearing sunscreen when we are on holiday. However, although you might not think to wear it once you’re back in colder climates, UV radiation penetrates through clouds. This means that you are still vulnerable to its harmful effects every day. Luckily, you can protect yourself by taking just a few extra minutes in the morning to apply sunscreen. By wearing an SPF of at least 15 every day, you lower your risk of skin cancer by about 40%. It is especially important to wear sunscreen after a Hair Bare Pro Alkaline treatment because The Alkaline wash system chemically exfoliates the skin-cells. Removing dead skin cells is crucial for achieving brighter, smoother skin. However, it does mean that your skin is more vulnerable to harmful UV rays. This is why a Hair Bare Pro treatment package is always finished up with our SPF30 cream, Protect You. SPF prevents the effects of aging SPF is not only great for protecting your health, it can also keep you looking young and beautiful! Overexposure to UV rays leads to photoaging, the premature aging of the skin caused by light exposure. The result is fine lines, wrinkles, and hyper-pigmentation which can leave you looking tired and aged. For a striking visual demonstration of the aging effects of sun exposure, see this famous photograph of a 69 year old truck driver featured in the New England Journal of Medicine. As a long-distance truck driver, the left side of his face was exposed to the sun daily for 28 years. By contrast, the right side of his face, protected in the truck-cabin, is far younger and fresher looking. SPF helps to maintain an even skin-tone Sun exposure is also the primary cause of hyper-pigmentation, which produces dark spots on body parts – particularly the face- which are regularly exposed to the sun. Hyperpigmentation can occur in all skin shades, however, it is more common to those with darker skin, where skin pigmentation is stronger. Once these sun spots have developed, they can take longer to fade on darker skin. While hyperpigmentation is not usually harmful, it might be bothersome to those who desire an even, flawless complexion By wearing an SPF every-day you can prevent future hyperpigmentation from occurring. Further, you can prevent any existing hyperpigmentation you have from darkening and becoming more noticeable. Why Choose Hair Bare Pro's Protect You SPF? At Hair Bare Pro, we take sunscreen so seriously that we have developed our own SPF 30 cream, Protect You. As a physical sunscreen, Protect You relies on micronised titanium dioxide to form a physical barrier on the skin. This barrier refracts and absorbs harmful UVA and UVB rays. Physical sunscreens are typically less irritating to the skin than chemical sunscreens, making Protect You a great choice for all skin types, including sensitive. Conclusion Ultimately, wearing an SPF every-day is an important way to look after yourself. Not only does it reduce your risk of skin cancer considerably, it also helps you to avoid the effects of photoaging and maintain a youthful, even complexion no matter your age. There are many sunscreens on the market, but be aware that some only protect from UVB rays, and not UVA rays too. Hair Bare’s Protect You is a great option for those looking for protection from both UVB and UVA rays. Further, as a non-irritating physical sunscreen, it is suitable for even sensitive skin types.

Why Hair Bare Pro Complements Laser Hair Removal: A Synergistic Approach to Smooth Skin In the quest for smooth, hair-free skin, many turn to laser hair removal, attracted by its promise of long-term results. However, laser treatments have their limitations, particularly with fine, vellus hair, and varying skin and hair types. Enter Hair Bare Pro, a revolutionary alkaline wash hair removal system, offering a complementary and comprehensive solution where laser treatments may fall short. This blog explores the synergy between Hair Bare Pro and laser hair removal, presenting a holistic approach to achieving the smooth, radiant skin you desire. Understanding Laser Hair Removal Laser hair removal has been a popular choice for those seeking a long-term solution to unwanted hair. It works by targeting the melanin in hair follicles, effectively reducing hair growth over time. However, its effectiveness is predominantly seen in individuals with darker hair and lighter skin tones due to the contrast needed between hair and skin for the laser to target effectively. This specificity leaves a gap in treatment options for those with lighter, finer hair, or those with darker skin tones, where the risk of skin damage is higher. The Limitations of Laser Hair Removal While laser hair removal offers significant benefits, its limitations underscore the need for alternative or complementary treatments: Ineffectiveness on Vellus Hair: Fine, "peach fuzz" type hair is often resistant to laser because it lacks the pigment that the laser targets. Skin and Hair Type Restrictions: People with darker skin tones or very light hair may not achieve optimal results due to the lack of contrast needed for the laser to work effectively. Risk of Skin Irritation: Sensitive areas or individuals with reactive skin might experience discomfort or adverse reactions. Introducing Hair Bare Pro Alkaline Wash Hair Bare Pro addresses the limitations of laser hair removal head-on. Utilizing an innovative alkaline wash system, it offers an effective solution for all hair types, including the elusive vellus hair, without the constraints posed by skin tone or hair color. How Hair Bare Pro Complements Laser Treatments Targeting Vellus Hair: Where laser struggles, Hair Bare Pro excels. The alkaline wash effectively breaks down fine hair regardless of color, ensuring those areas laser can't address are still treated, resulting in a smoother overall complexion. Suitable for All Skin Types: Unlike laser, which requires a certain contrast between skin and hair color, Hair Bare Pro's unique formula is effective on all skin types, making it an inclusive option for everyone. Pain-Free Solution: For those who find laser treatments uncomfortable, Hair Bare Pro offers a gentle yet effective alternative, making the pursuit of smooth skin more accessible and less daunting. The Science Behind Hair Bare Pro At its core, Hair Bare Pro works by temporarily elevating the skin's pH, leading to the dissolution of hair at the root. This not only removes unwanted hair but also significantly slows down regrowth over time. When combined with laser treatments, Hair Bare Pro can enhance overall results, especially in areas where laser may not be the most viable option. A Comprehensive Approach to Hair Removal By integrating Hair Bare Pro into your hair removal regimen, you can address the comprehensive spectrum of hair types and areas. This dual approach allows for a customised treatment plan that maximizes effectiveness and caters to individual needs and preferences. Benefits Beyond Hair Removal Beyond its capability to complement laser treatments in hair removal, Hair Bare Pro also offers additional skincare benefits. Its process of elevating skin pH for hair removal doubles as an exfoliating treatment, leaving skin not only hair-free but also smoother, brighter, and more rejuvenated. Conclusion The combination of Hair Bare Pro Alkaline Wash and laser hair removal represents a holistic approach to achieving long-lasting, smooth skin. This synergistic method addresses the full spectrum of hair types and skin tones, offering an inclusive, effective solution for everyone. As we continue to seek out the best in beauty and wellness, the collaboration between these two innovative treatments underscores a future where smooth, radiant skin is accessible to all, without compromise. In conclusion, the journey to flawless skin doesn't have to be confined to a single method. By embracing the strengths of both Hair Bare Pro and laser hair removal, you can enjoy the best of both worlds: comprehensive, long-term hair reduction tailored to your unique skin and hair needs.

Exploring Hair Removal Techniques: Dermaplaning vs. Hair Bare Pro Alkaline Wash Hair Removal System If hair removal techniques intrigue you, you've likely heard of derma-planing, a Japanese-origin method that became popular in the West around 2016. Let's delve into how derma-planing stands in comparison to the revolutionary Hair Bare Pro Alkaline wash hair removal system approach. Understanding Derma-planing Derma-planing involves a professional procedure that gently removes vellus facial hair using a scalpel. Additionally, this method exfoliates dead skin cells, unveiling a hair-free complexion that appears more luminous and refined. Derma-planing: Benefits and Limitations Benefits: • A completely pain-free approach to hair removal. • Simultaneously exfoliates, enhancing skin's radiance and texture. • Facilitates flawless makeup application, achieving a seamless finish. • Universally effective for all skin and hair types, a stark contrast to lasers. Limitations: • Not recommended for acne-prone skin, due to potential irritation and bacterial risks. • May lead to ingrown hairs. • Isn't suitable for individuals with active skin ailments, like eczema, rosacea, or psoriasis. • Focused solely on facial hair removal. • Some might find the idea of 'shaving' the face unsettling. • Only offers surface-level hair removal. • Thicker hairs tend to regrow swiftly. Introducing Hair Bare Alkaline wash hair removal Hair Bare Pro is an innovative alkaline wash hair removal system. This chemical depilation technique uses a potent blend of alkaline powder and rose water, which effectively dissolves hair proteins, leaving the skin smooth and hair-free. Additionally, this treatment is both odourless and painless, setting it apart from many traditional methods. Hair Bare Pro: Benefits and Limitations Benefits: • Offers a pain-free hair removal experience. • Chemically exfoliates, illuminating and smoothening the skin. • Ensures an immaculate base for makeup, providing a professional touch. • Applicable to all hair and skin shades, outdoing lasers. • A pleasurable and calming procedure, which pairs perfectly with the Naked Glow facial. • Versatile in its application, suitable for the entire body. • Actively prevents and treats ingrown hairs. • Demonstrated improvement in treating acne and breakouts through its clinical trials. • Targets hair down to its bulge, prolonging the hair-free phase. • For those facing quick regrowth of coarse hairs, our innovative "Stop It" crème offers prolonged results and hair reduction. Furthermore, "Stop It" boasts the market's highest concentration of active ingredients and enjoys comprehensive clinical backing. Limitations: • Not advisable for those dealing with active skin conditions, including psoriasis, eczema, or rosacea. Making the Right Choice Selecting a hair removal method is a highly personal affair. We urge you to examine the various options available. However, if issues like acne, ingrown hairs, and the desire for long-lasting, clinically-backed results resonate with you, the Hair Bare technique might just be your perfect match.
Julie Jacobs French The Hair Bare Pro Alkaline wash hair removal system Story
By Julie Jacobs French 02 Apr, 2023
Many of our loyal Hair Bare customers are familiar with our brand founder, the beauty industry professional Julie Jacobs French. If you are new to Julie’s story, or wish to hear in greater depth her personal and professional motivation for founding Hair Bare alkaline wash, keep reading! The beginning Julie Jacobs French came up with the idea for Hair Bare in 2016 after having spent 30 years in the beauty industry. At this time, she was the founder and owner of Ice Clinic, an aesthetic clinic in Beckenham, Greater London, which has grown to prominence in the wider Kent area. Inspired by clients with PCOS Julie was a hands-on presence at Ice Clinic and skilled in performing a broad range of beauty treatments. However, one treatment form which particularly resonated with her was the hair-removal that she performed for women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). PCOS is a common health condition among women and is related to hormonal imbalances. Due to these imbalances, female PCOS sufferers often deal with hirsutism- the excessive growth of dark and coarse facial and body hair, often mimicking male hair growth patterns. Julie witnessed the emotional distress of many of her PCOS clients and was moved to help them tackle their hirsutism. Initially, Julie treated the excess hair growth of her female clients with laser hair removal, which is particularly good at targeting the coarser, darker hairs associated with PCOS. However, she found that the laser was less effective at targeting vellus hairs- the lighter, fluffier face and body hairs often termed ‘peach fuzz’. This sparked Julie’s interest in creating an alkaline wash/depilatory product specifically designed to remove these vellus hairs that would complement her clients’ laser hair removal. A product that's safe for all skin tones Once Julie had her business idea, a key concern of hers was making her alkaline wash/depilatory product safe for all skin tones. After decades in the industry, she was used to treating women of colour who had burns from using depilatory creams on their upper lip. In order to improve the safety of this, Julie designed her depilatory as a powder rather than a cream. This ensured that the Hair Bare powder would penetrate the skin down to the hair bulge in order to remove hair, as opposed to simply sitting on the surface of the skin and causing irritation as a cream can. Today After two and half years of development, Hair Bare was thus brought to market in 2018. It fulfilled Julie’s goal of creating an inclusive hair removal product effective on women with a broad range of skin types, conditions and colours. Suitable for women of all skin colours and sensitivities, and well-suited to women with PCOS and acne, Hair Bare celebrates the diversity of female beauty and subtracts pain from the hair removal process. Today, Julie has progressed this mission even further by introducing the Naked Glow Facial, combining hair removal with a massage and a facial for a truly luxurious and pampering experience. Julie always enjoys hearing from clients or those who are interested in Hair Bare. If you are interested in connecting with her or learning more about her professional experience, feel free to explore her Instagram, and her personal website.

Hair Bare is an innovative new salon treatment, and if you have never had a hair removal treatment like this before, you may be unsure of what to expect. We have outlined the treatment procedure for you here, so if you’re curious about the Hair Bare experience and want to know more, read on! Before your treatment Between one week and 48 hours before your first treatment, your salon practitioner will give you a patch test in order to ensure that you do not have an adverse reaction to the Hair Bare formula. The time needed for your patch test will depend on your skin type; sensitive skin and darker skin will require a longer time. Having undergone our patch test, you can enter your Hair Bare treatment with full confidence. In the salon While you lie down and relax, your practitioner will mix up the Hair Bare depilatory paste, which consists of our Remove and Smooth powder combined with water. Don’t worry- they will apply Vaseline to any areas of your face and body where you don’t want to remove hair, such as your hair-line! Your practitioner will then apply the depilatory paste to your face or body. It will be left for approximately 4-5 minutes to remove hair on your face, and 8-10 minutes to remove hair on your body. In this time, the paste will raise the alkalinity of your skin from a pH of 5.5 (normal) to 12.5 (alkaline). During this process, your practitioner will regularly spray your skin with our Calming Spritz in order to calm and cool the skin. Your practitioner will then remove the product from your skin with water, easily removing your unwanted hair along with it. They will apply a soothing ice globe to your skin and then apply our Balance Me foaming cleanser. Balance Me will close your pores and take your skin back down to its normal pH of 5.5. The penultimate stage of your treatment will be the application of our clinically proven hair retardant cream, Stop It. This has aloe and jojoba to moisturise and nourish your skin, and will inhibit future hair growth, ensuring your Hair Bare results last longer. Finally, your practitioner will apply our SPF 30, Protect You, which will protect your skin from UVA and UVB rays. With that, your treatment is over, and you can go out into the world with hairless, bright and smooth skin! Conclusion Hopefully, this guide has answered your questions about the Hair Bare treatment experience. If you still have any queries, we would always love to hear from you on our Facebook or Instagram page!

Both waxing, and depilatory creams such as Hair Bare have been used to remove unwanted hair since ancient times. Each method comes with its own pros and cons, and you may find that you prefer one to the other. Read on to discover the method of hair removal that best suits you! What is waxing? Waxing is a method of physical hair removal. It may involve hot wax (as in a salon) or cool wax (as in at-home wax strips). The wax is applied to the surface of the skin and then removed, pulling the hair out of the follicle. The results of waxing usually last between 4-6 weeks; this is roughly how long it takes for hair to grow back in the human hair growth cycle. What is Hair Bare? Hair Bare is a chemical method of hair removal known as depilation. It works through use of a cream made up of alkaline powder and water, which breaks down hair proteins, so that unwanted hair can be wiped away. This process is pain free and without strong odours. Hair Bare can remove all types of hair but it is particularly good at removing vellus hair, also known as ‘peach fuzz’. Pros and Cons of Waxing Pros ✔ It is suitable for all skin and hair colours, unlike laser hair removal. It physically exfoliates dead skin cells, making skin look brighter and smoother. It can lead to long-term hair reduction over time. Cons 𝗫 Depending on individual pain tolerance, waxing can vary from uncomfortable to painful. It can cause uncomfortable or unsightly ingrown hairs, because hair that is removed at the follicle may not break the surface of the skin as it regrows. It is not suitable for those with active acne on the areas that they wish to wax because it can irritate inflamed skin. It is not suitable for active skin conditions such as eczema, rosacea or psoriasis. Pros and Cons of Hair Bare Pros ✔ Not only is it painless, it is also an enjoyable and relaxing treatment that may be combined with our Naked Glow facial. It is suitable for all skin and hair colours, unlike laser. It chemically exfoliates dead skin cells, making skin look brighter and smoother. It enables smoother makeup application on the face for an airbrushed effect. It can lead to long-term hair reduction over time. It prevents and helps to cure ingrown hairs. Acne, breakouts and pimples can be treated- and over a course of treatment the skin will be improved, as shown in the Hair Bare clinical trial. It penetrates down to the hair bulge, weakening the vellus hair for a longer period. Although coarse hair will grow back quite quickly, you have the option to buy our hair retardant crème “Stop It “, which will enable you to have longer hair free results and hair reduction. Our ‘Stop It’ crème has the highest percentage of active ingredient in the market to date and has full clinical support . Cons 𝗫 Hair Bare is also not suitable for those with active skin conditions like psoriasis, eczema or rosacea. Conclusion In conclusion, there are no right or wrong choices when it comes to hair removal, and you should select the method that feels right for you. Both waxing and Hair Bare can lead to long-term hair reduction over time, and both exfoliate skin to make it look brighter and smoother. However, if you are seeking a painless, relaxing hair removal experience, or if you have active acne, you might find that Hair Bare is your ideal pathway to fuzz-free skin.

Statistics reveal that after depilatory creams, shaving is the most popular method of hair removal globally. Many of our first experiences of hair removal involved a razor, and if shaving continues to work for you, that’s great! However, if you find that shaving is a time-consuming or tedious task, you may be looking for alternative methods of hair removal. This is where Hair Bare comes in! Read on to discover why the Hair Bare method is a great alternative to shaving. What is shaving? Shaving is the process of removing hair from the surface of the skin using a razor blade, and it has been practiced for thousands of years. Because shaving only removes hair from the skin’s surface, you may need to shave daily or every few days, depending on how fast your hair grows. What are the pros and cons of shaving? Pros ✔ It is a painless method of hair removal (so long as you are careful, of course!) It is inexpensive in comparison to other methods of hair removal- disposable razors can be bought for just a few pounds. No appointment needed- it can be done from the convenience of your own home. Cons 𝗫 It can cause unsightly or uncomfortable ingrown hairs. It only removes hair from the skin’s surface. It can cause razor burn, giving you itchy bumps or a red rash after shaving. Depending on how much body hair you have and your rate of hair-growth, it may be a time-consuming regular activity. Shaving hair causes it to grow back with a blunt end. This can lead the hair to appear thicker and coarser than hair which grows naturally and has a tapered end. Disposable razors have an environmental cost. Due to their mixed materials, they are not recyclable, and so end up in landfill. An estimated 2 million razors are thrown out in the US every-year. What is Hair Bare? Hair Bare is a chemical method of hair removal known as depilation. It works through use of a cream made up of alkaline powder and water, which breaks down hair proteins leaving skin hair free. This process is pain free and without strong odours. What are the pros and cons of Hair Bare? Pros ✔ It is a painless method of hair removal. It chemically exfoliates dead skin cells, making skin look brighter and smoother. It enables smoother makeup application for an airbrushed effect. It is an enjoyable and relaxing treatment that may be combined with the Naked Glow facial. It prevents and helps to cure ingrown hairs. It can improve the appearance of acne and breakouts, as shown in the Hair Bare clinical trial. It penetrates down to the hair bulge , weakening the vellus hair for a longer period Although coarse hair will grow back quite quickly, you have the option to buy our hair retardant crème “Stop It “, which will enable you to have longer hair free results and hair reduction. Our ‘Stop It’ crème has the highest percentage of active ingredient in the market to date and has full clinical support. Cons 𝗫 Hair Bare is not suitable for those with active skin conditions like psoriasis, eczema or rosacea. Hair Bare is more costly than shaving with disposable razors. Conclusion Ultimately, whether you choose to remove hair via shaving or the Hair Bare method is a personal choice with no right or wrong answer. However, we can provide some guidance. If you are simply looking for a cheap, temporary method to remove unwanted hair from the convenience of your own home, you may prefer shaving. On the other hand, if you are seeking longer-term hair reduction with a visual improvement to the skin, or a relaxing pampering experience, Hair Bare might be the perfect fit for you.

Hair Bare Pro was developed to be an inclusive beauty solution, designed to cater to a wide array of skin types and conditions. Understanding your skin type is crucial to determining the most effective beauty treatments for you. Let's delve into the various skin types and discover how the Hair Bare Pro Alkaline Wash System can be tailored to each, ensuring optimal results. Normal Skin It's essential to appreciate that all skin types are normal and beautiful in their own right. However, in the context of skin classification, 'normal skin' is described as well-hydrated, soft, and plump, characterized by small to medium pores and an even texture. Oily Skin Commonly observed in teenagers and individuals with Mediterranean and black skin, oily skin results from the sebaceous glands' overproduction of sebum. Signs of oily skin include a shiny appearance and a tendency towards breakouts due to the accumulation of sebum and dead skin cells. Interestingly, oily skin can have the advantage of maintaining a youthful appearance for a longer duration. How the Hair Bare Pro Alkaline Wash System Can Help: Oily skin can lead to acne and subsequent scarring. The Alkaline Wash System's unique formula helps to soothe and reduce breakouts, while its exfoliating properties brighten and smoothen the skin, thereby improving scars and pigmentation marks. Dry Skin Dry skin lacks natural oils and has a compromised acid mantle. It can be influenced by various factors, including environmental conditions, genetic predispositions, and ageing, which reduces sebum production. Dry skin often appears aged due to more prominent wrinkles and may exhibit milia, especially around the cheekbones. Rich moisturizers and hyaluronic acid-based products are particularly beneficial for this skin type. How the Hair Bare Pro Alkaline Wash System Can Help: Dry skin sufferers may experience flakiness and a dull appearance. The Alkaline Wash System effectively chemically exfoliates the skin, removing dead cells and revealing a brighter, smoother surface. The post-treatment application of the Calming Spritz, enriched with hyaluronic acid, provides additional hydration to refresh dry skin. Combination Skin Combination skin features more than one skin type, typically an oily T-zone (forehead and nose) contrasted with dry or normal cheeks. How the Hair Bare Pro Alkaline Wash System Can Help: The Alkaline Wash System is ideal for combination skin, enhancing the appearance of oily areas prone to breakouts and scarring while gently exfoliating the dry regions for a balanced, smooth complexion. Sensitive Skin While not a distinct skin type, sensitive skin is a condition that can be triggered by external environmental factors or internal issues such as allergies. It often manifests as thin, easily irritated skin with visible capillaries and a tendency towards redness and rashes. How the Hair Bare Pro Alkaline Wash System Can Help: The Alkaline Wash System is designed to be a gentle treatment that does not aggravate sensitive skin. Its formulation penetrates deeply to target the hair follicle without causing surface irritation, distinguishing it from thicker, potentially irritating depilatory creams. In conclusion, the Hair Bare Pro Alkaline Wash System offers a versatile solution for all skin types, addressing specific concerns with its gentle, effective formula. Whether you're looking to soothe oily skin, hydrate dry areas, balance combination skin, or gently treat sensitive skin, Hair Bare Pro is tailored to meet your unique needs, promoting a smoother, more radiant complexion.
